Private education in Chile

In this blog I will comment on my opinion about the private education system of Chile through the question: do private schools offer higher quality education or are they just prestigious? First of all, I think it is necessary to distinguish that in our country there are private schools for the middle class, where you must pay, however, it is a "a little lower" amount, and there are also for the highest class, which are very expensive. In my experience, I was able to attend a low-profile, private-subsidized school (although it was more private, lol), where you had to pay a monthly fee of $100.000 pesos, which is not accessible to all people. Even so, it seems to me that the education received in these types of establishments was NOT of good quality, since there were many deficiencies in basic elements that would allow a comprehensive development of the students such as, the existence of a student center. Therefore, it seems to me that the lesser-known and middle-class schools do not provide a high-quality education, nor do they provide prestige, it seems to be only a business for the owners of those establishments.

On the other hand, there are private schools that only upper-class people can pay, located in the wealthiest communes of Santiago, since millions would have to be paid monthly. While I have not attended such colleges or associated with upper class people, you can see that they receive a good education through the higher PSU scores, the way they express themselves, etc. I really hope that these differences in education, which should be a basic right for every human being.
